Built for where you are now and what comes next.

Your reproductive health changes throughout life. Lua adapts with you, keeping your history and insights together as your needs evolve. No separate period app. No separate pill reminder. No separate fertility tracker. Just one private home for the information that matters to you.

Frequently asked questions

The things people ask us most.

Is my data really private?

Yes, and not as a promise we could quietly change. Lua has no servers and no backend, so everything you log is written to private storage on your own phone and stays there. We cannot read it, because it never reaches us. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising anywhere in the app. You can also turn on a Face ID lock so nobody else can open it.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email, and no password. You open Lua and start using it. Nothing to verify, nothing to remember, and no profile sitting on a server somewhere waiting to be breached.

Can I use Lua as my birth control?

No. Lua is not a contraceptive and has no contraceptive effect. It helps you keep the method you already use on schedule (pill reminders, ring and patch changes, injection dates, IUD and implant records), but it cannot prevent pregnancy, and a reminder can be missed if your phone is off or notifications are disabled. Always follow your prescriber’s instructions.

What happens if I lose my phone or get a new one?

Because your data lives only on your device, we have no copy to restore it from. Backing up your phone through Apple or Google is what carries your history across to a new device. This is the honest trade-off of a private-by-default app: no cloud copy means there is nothing to leak, but also nothing for us to recover.

Does Lua work with Apple Health?

If you want it to. You can connect Apple Health to import up to the last 12 months of period entries, and to save the periods you log in Lua back to Health. It stays off until you turn it on, it only ever exchanges menstrual flow, and your symptoms, notes and sex logs are never written to Health.

Is Lua free?

Lua is free to download, with no ads. Tracking your cycle, contraception, sex life, and pregnancy on your phone is included. Lua+ is optional: it unlocks reminders for every method and full cycle stats, billed by Apple as a monthly or yearly subscription (the yearly plan may include a free trial). You manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Details are in our terms.
